| PRAGUE
& CZECH REPUBLIC
Prague, Praha, Prag these are names that the most
beautiful city of the world is called. Praha is also called a city
of hundred spires. If you watch Prag from the sky it looks like
watching a spike field. Prague is enormously interesting for people
looking for art and great architecture. Prague went through very
long development and these centuries of historical development left
often striking examples of all architectural styles here. Romanesque
and Gothic buildings, Renaissance and Baroque palaces and Art Nouveau
buildings captivate the beholder. Not without a reason was the historical
area of Prague placed on UNESCO list of the world cultural heritage.
The experience you will get in the Czech republic, will last in
you forever.
Among the unforgettable impressions is especially
the view of the Prague castle panorama, that is dominated by the
Gothic slenderness of the St. Vitus cathedral, from the Vltava river
bank.
You can stay in the first-class hotels with perfect
service, where you will always find sufficient opportunity for entertainment
or a favorable setting for your business activities. There are numerous
other accommodations including cozy pensions and campsites for the
less demanding tourists. ON our site you can not find much of those
really really cheap ones, but Prague is full of cheap accommodation,
which is by our meaning of very low quality.
The rich cultural life of the city culminates every year during
the international musical festival of the Prague Spring, which takes
place in excellent concert halls and old Prague gardens. Fortunately
Prague is pumping with so many cultural events that lovers and admirers
of all arts, music styles and also sports can enjoy their stay.
Prague nightlife offers great pleasure for everyone. Praha has no
limits. You can also find many specialized clubs in Prague. Prag
is very open minded and invites gays, lesbians and of course heterosexuals.
This should seem like Praha is sexual city, but it is not like that
indeed. Prague is very kind to people that want to spend honeymoon
in a romantic place. Prague hotels offer unforgettable atmosphere
and excellent stay conditions. For western visitors it also very
cheap.
For example regular food at the normal local restaurant
(not near the Old town square and Wenceslav sqr.) can cost you approximatelly
CZK 200 (6 dolars), including drinks. You can get a mug of beer
for one dolar or even fifty cents (CZK 15 - 30). Those who are looking
for something stronger can find their stuff very easily. Unfortunately
Prague Guide does not support dealers of marihuana, cocain, pervitin,
heroin, thc, hash, ectasy or any kind of pills or drugs, therefor
we will not mention any clubs or streets where you can buy it. However
if you need to buy something be very careful and check twice what
you are pying for. If you are a newbie, do not never buy from a
gypsy near the Republic square. Better go further to the center
of Old town where you can find a club Chapeau Rouge.
The area surrounding Prague is also worth seeing,
it is particularly the valley of the Vltava river with its reservoirs
and the nearby chateaux (for example Karlstejn, Krivoklát,
and Konopiste).
Those who are interested in history should not miss the visit of Kutna
Hora, the second most important town in the Czech lands, with its
remarkable Gothic buildings. Another historical jewel, that was
placed on the UNESCO list of the world cultural heritage, is Cesky
Krumlov, the unique historical town in the picturesque landscape
of the southern Bohemia. Once the seat of the powerful Czech aristocratic
family, today it is one of the most important European historical
areas, with the Gothic-Renaissance chateau and preserved collection
of Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque buildings. The town is not only
famous for its summer theatre with rotating audience, but also for
its Southern Bohemia Music Festival.
It is situated in a landscape of forests and fish
ponds and it is the third Czech town registered on the UNESCO list
of the cultural heritage. A late Gothic fortress, gates and a number
of Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque houses are preserved in the
historical center of the town. In the Telc chateau are valuable
collections including a gallery of the outstanding Czech painter
Jan Zrzavy. The Telc chateau is also famous for its wonderful garden.
Among the most important tourist destinations in the Czech Republic,
according to Baedeker, the world famous tourist guide, are: Cesky
Raj (Czech Paradise), a landscape with rocky towns, pleasant forests,
and numerous castles and chateaux, Olomouc, a city with Romanesque,
Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque architecture and the Moravsky Kras,
with its Macocha chasm and underground Punkva river.
